SUMMARY:Immigration Officials’ Conference: Strengthening Cooperation to Address Trafficking for Forced Criminality and Related Transnational Crime
DESCRIPTION:Co-organised by RSO and the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration (DGI)\, the three-day conference aims to develop shared understanding and strengthen operational responses to trafficking in persons linked to cyber-scam centres. It will bring together immigration authorities and other relevant law enforcement agencies from countries most affected by trafficking for forced criminality to provide a forum for information sharing\, strengthen networking across countries and regions\, and support discussion of longer-term immigration coordination in response to the cross-border movement of potential victims and perpetrators in the context of trafficking for forced criminality.

The two-day hybrid workshop will bring together Regional Information\, Liaison and Outreach Network (RILON) secondees from Australia\, Bangladesh\, Indonesia\, Malaysia\, Thailand and Timor-Leste to review and validate the draft Handbook. \nDrawing on their expertise as prospective end-users of the Handbook\, they will assess its proposed structure\, steps and practical guidance to ensure that the final Handbook effectively supports Bali Process Member States in designing\, implementing and monitoring information campaigns on addressing irregular migration.

The workshop aims to foster informed and balanced discussion\, enhance understanding of different approaches and their implications\, and identify key recommendations for policymakers seeking to address irregular migration in a manner consistent with national priorities\, labour market realities\, and migration governance objectives.
