SUMMARY:RILON Maritime People Smuggling Response Group Induction Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The RSO will convene an induction meeting for all RILON secondees from Australia\, Bangladesh\, Indonesia\, Malaysia\, Thailand\, and Timor-Leste\, who will come together to form the RILON Maritime People Smuggling Response Group. This meeting will discuss and agree upon a Terms of Reference and workplan of activities that the RILON secondment group will undertake in support of the Bali Process’ efforts to counter maritime people smuggling and irregular migration. Secondees will also participate in a range of team building activities and capacity-building sessions with a focus on information sharing and leadership.

DESCRIPTION:In response to the growing challenges posed by the use of technology to facilitate trafficking in persons and people smuggling operations across Indonesia\, the RSO is hosting a four-day Technical Workshop in Jakarta\, Indonesia. The workshop aims to equip Indonesian law enforcement officers and criminal justice officials with open-source intelligence (OSINT) skills to proactively identify online recruiters\, detect and report fraudulent job advertisements on social media platforms\, and monitor evolving recruitment tactics used by criminal networks facilitating trafficking in persons and/or people smuggling.
