RSO launches refreshed Bali Process website to support information and collaboration for Member States

The Regional Support Office of the Bali Process (RSO) is launching a refreshed website for the Bali Process – introducing an updated, modern design and new navigation to support access to information and resources, and to enable more effective engagement and collaboration between Member States, the Bali Process Working Groups and the RSO.

A short overview video of the homepage can be seen here – giving an overview of the Bali Process, its structure and meetings, the Bali Process Working Groups, and the challenges members come together to address around trafficking in persons, people smuggling and related transnational crimes.

The Bali Process brings together 49 Member States and Organisations covering an expansive geographical area, across the Asia Pacific and reaching across to Europe and North America. Supporting the Bali Process’ membership and wider regional stakeholders to stay informed on regional trends, issues and developments is a priority for the RSO – as well as ensuring ongoing dialogue and opportunities for information-sharing and networking – and the refreshed website will play a key role in providing a modern and fit-for-purpose platform to support these ambitions, alongside the RSO’s regular programme of events including training activities, roundtables and thematic dialogues.

The website has been developed with input and feedback from Member States, and with leadership from Bali Process Co-Chairs and their teams in Australia and Indonesia, to ensure the updated platform meets user needs and that it effectively facilitates how Member States navigate and access information, and to support opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement.

The RSO acknowledges the generous financial support from the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs that has funded this refresh project, as well as ongoing funding support for the hosting and maintenance of the website from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The RSO also thanks colleagues at the International Organization for Migration, Canberra – who play an important role in the day to day maintenance of the website, and to creative agency Juicebox who supported the delivery of the new website.

Finally, this work would not have been possible without the engaged input and suggestions from Bali Process Member States, the Bali Process Working Groups and the Bali Process Government and Business Forum.

A next stage of work will be the development of a separate website for the RSO – which will enable law enforcement officers, border and immigration officials, policy makers, judicial personnel and counter-trafficking and migration practitioners across Bali Process Member States and wider regional actors to access information and resources at a practitioner level. The RSO aims to launch this in summer 2023.
