RSO provides a thematic briefing on people smuggling and human trafficking at sea: HACGAM (Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting) Capacity Building Program

The HACGAM (Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting) Capacity Building Program on “Law of The Sea and Maritime Enforcement Training” is currently ongoing with 36 official participants from Indonesia, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkey. The HACGAM (Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting) Capacity Building Program on “Law of The Sea and Maritime Enforcement Training” is currently ongoing with 36 official participants from Indonesia, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkey.

On 6 October 2021, the Regional Support Office of the Bali Process (RSO) has delivered a thematic briefing on people smuggling and human trafficking at sea and has introduced RSO’s recent publications and initiatives in addressing irregular maritime movement at sea. The Capacity Building Program is designed to enhance knowledge about the International Law of the Sea for Coast Guard personnel from HACGAM member countries and represents Bakamla’s commitment to HACGAM Capacity Building.

HACGAM (Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting) established in 2004 includes the following member states: Australia, Bahrein, Bangladesh, Brunei, Philippines, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea, Laos, Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam, and agencies such as UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Bali Process participate as observers.
