Summary: Bali Process Technical Advisory Group Meeting for the Project to increase information sharing

On 15-16 February 2018 the Regional Support Office (RSO) of the Bali Process hosted a meeting of experts from Bali Process Member States and Organizations to discuss cross-border information sharing to prevent, disrupt and prosecute people smuggling, trafficking in persons and related transnational crime.

Attendees formed a Technical Advisory Group to provide guidance on an RSO-led project, sponsored by the Canadian Government, to increase cross-border information sharing through the development of guidelines for information sharing and associated training.

The theme of the meeting was ‘Sharing expertise and experience for better information sharing’ and the Technical Advisory Group identified existing strengths and areas for development in cross-border information sharing. The meeting provided valuable guidance on how the project and its deliverables can increase regional sharing of information in relation to people smuggling, trafficking in persons and related transnational crime.
