The RSO Members’ Engagement Function brought together members of the diplomatic corps, along with International Organisations, regional partners, Royal Thai Government officials, and Bali Process and RSO stakeholders based in Bangkok, for an evening of networking and dialogue on the 25 February. The event also included senior official government representatives from Bali Process Member and Observer States who were in Bangkok for the Third RSO Constructive Dialogue.
Legal Identity and Statelessness: A Personal Account
The RSO worked together with multimedia artist Fairuz Sulaiman, and Kanteera Techaphattanaku, to tell the story of Kanteera’s firsthand experiences of statelessness through a narrative and visual performance at the 2025 RSO Members’ Engagement Function in Bangkok.
Through paper cuttings, collage, and stop-motion animation, the performance highlighted the journey and resilience of people experiencing statelessness, and Thailand’s efforts to respond to statelessness, including an accelerated pathway to citizenship for around 480,000 stateless people who have lived in the country since 1984.
