Regional Workshop on Strengthening the Prevention of Forced Labour in the Fishing Sector

The RSO, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), will convene a Regional Workshop on Strengthening the Prevention of Forced Labour in the Fishing Sector—bringing together government officials, international organisations, private sector actors, fisheries associations, and migrant worker representatives from Southeast Asia and the Pacific to identify regional priority actions to prevent exploitation in fishing supply chains. The workshop will focus on promoting fair and ethical recruitment practices, improving access to effective grievance mechanisms for fishers and migrant workers, and strengthening the integration of labour-sensitive approaches into vessel inspections.
