Mr Ben Reeves currently serves as the Co-Manager (Australia), the Regional Support Office  of the Bali Process (RSO). In this role, he leads regional initiatives to counter irregular migration, trafficking in persons, and related transnational crime. Mr Reeves was a graduate in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry before joining the Department of Home Affairs. He has worked in both immigration and national security roles, including Director South Asia, Deputy Director Northern Territory, and Executive Officer to the Secretary.  His overseas roles with the Department have included Counsellor (Home Affairs) in New Delhi and First Secretary (Immigration) in Dhaka and Dili as well as short term assignments in Hanoi, Sri Lanka, Nauru, Egypt, Pakistan.  In 2010-11, Ben worked as Senior Immigration Specialist with IOM Timor-Leste.

Now let me jump into the book recommendation part of this bio. Patrick White explored migration themes in his epic novel, Voss. Studying this work at university set me on a path to consider how Australia has engaged with and been shaped by migration, and then as my career expanded, how migration has been integral to the whole human story.  When in doubt, I return to Voss.
