Kasun is an Immigration Investigations Officer attached to the Border Surveillance Unit of the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka. With extensive experience in document examination, immigration investigations, profiling, targeting, and international cooperation, he has developed deep expertise in addressing irregular migration, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling.
Currently serving as a Secondee representing Sri Lankan immigration interests in the ASEAN region, Kasun plays a key role in strengthening regional cooperation and information exchange. His responsibilities include facilitating information sharing on human trafficking and migrant smuggling, identifying regional migration trends, and serving as a country focal point for coordination with local law enforcement and border management agencies.
Kasun is also a specialist in forensic document examination and regularly delivers specialised travel document training to law enforcement, consular staff, and airline officers as a Trainer of Trainers. He is an Associate Member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and has participated in numerous international forums and capacity-building initiatives focused on border management and irregular migration.
