Addressing Irregular Migration: Perspectives and Lessons Learned from Regularisation Programmes

The workshop will provide a platform for governments and other stakeholders to examine regularisation programmes as one of the policy responses used to address irregular migration. Drawing on experiences from Asia and other regions, it will bring together government officials, countries of origin, academic researchers, the private sector, migrant representatives, and international organisations to discuss lessons learned, challenges, and policy considerations associated with the design and implementation of such programmes. The workshop aims to foster informed and balanced discussion, enhance understanding of different approaches and their implications, and identify key recommendations for policymakers seeking to address irregular migration in a manner consistent with national priorities, labour market realities, and migration governance objectives.
