Thai Immigration – Bangkok
With borders closed and international travel still limited, the RSO has placed a greater emphasis on conducting training workshops within Thailand. Last week marked the first-ever workshop developed specifically for officers working within the Thai Immigration Bureau. With cooperation from the Royal Thai Police, the RSO was able to deliver The Bali Process Border Management Fundamentals and Covid-19 Operational Awareness Training Workshop was held on 26 & 27 November 2020 at the Montien Surawong Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
The RSO brought together subject matter experts from a variety of different organizations such as the Immigration Control Experts (ICE) Team, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), INTERPOL, the Eve Consulting Group, and the Royal Thai Police to share their expertise and experiences with participants from the Thai Immigration Bureau.
Twenty-five officers based out of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueng airports joined this workshop to learn more about topics that relate to their work as airport immigration officials, including trends on people smuggling & human trafficking, the management of passengers at airports in the context of COVID-19, information sharing, and inter-agency cooperation.
