Thai Immigration – Krabi

In addition to the workshop that was delivered to Thai Immigration Officials based in Bangkok last week, the RSO was asked to deliver the same training to more immigration officials based outside of Bangkok. In cooperation with the Royal Thai Police, the RSO delivered another Bali Process Border Management Fundamentals and Covid-19 Operational Awareness Training Workshop on 01 & 02 December 2020 at the Anavi Ao Nang Cliff Resort in Krabi, Thailand.

Representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Immigration Control Experts (ICE) Team, and the Royal Thai Police joined the RSO in person in Krabi, while representatives from INTERPOL and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) joined us virtually to share their experiences and expertise.

Again, 25 Thai Immigration officers joined the training workshop. Participants were based out of the airports in Krabi, Phuket, Surat Thani and Hat Yai. Topics covered at this workshop included trends on people smuggling & human trafficking, the management of passengers at airports in the context of COVID-19, information sharing, and inter-agency cooperation.
