Last week (02 February 2021) the RSO, in cooperation with the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC), continued its partnership to deliver another training workshop – this time focused on Identifying and Protecting Victims of Trafficking in Persons.
Taking advantage of JCLEC’s Online Delivery Model (ODM), the workshop was delivered virtually to law enforcement officers from Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia via the Zoom platform. The 23 law enforcement officers who attended the training came from departments involved in immigration as well as units focused on transnational crime.
The RSO brought in two subject matter experts to deliver sessions and share their experiences for this training. Scott Burge from Orejen Canada Consulting shared his experiences on International and Interagency Cooperation in order to gather information and combat the crime of trafficking in persons. Phil Norbury from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) delivered the next session, focused on Identifying and Protecting Victims of Trafficking.
The RSO would like to thank Federal Agent Greg Davis – Executive Director of Programs at JCLEC – our two subject matter experts, as well as all participants who were in attendance. We hope that this training workshop proved useful in your fight against trafficking in persons and allows for improved coordination between the various agencies and countries in attendance.
The RSO is proud to continue its partnership with JCLEC and will continue to work together to bring together law enforcement and immigration management experts to build capacity and strengthen the capabilities of Bali Process Member States.
